The St. Anthony Baseball team finished the 2026 season with an impressive 22-10 record, earning multiple victories over top-10 ranked Class 2A opponents and closing the year with a strong postseason run.
The Bulldogs opened postseason play with a 10-0 win over regional host Vandalia before capturing the Regional Championship over cross-creek rival Teutopolis. St. Anthony then defeated Breese Central 6-4 in the Sectional to earn a spot in the Sectional Championship, where the Bulldogs fell to Freeburg.
Aiden Lauritzen led the Bulldogs on both sides of the game, hitting .342 while also going 5-2 on the mound with a 2.138 ERA, 66 strikeouts, and a complete-game shutout in the Regional Championship. Charley Spour also had a standout season, hitting .415 with a .659 slugging percentage and a team-leading 31 RBIs.
The Bulldogs say thank you to seniors Xander Beals, Henry Brent, Aiden Lauritzen, Rogan Allen, and Maddux Clark for their leadership and contributions to the program. Coach Malatestinic praised the team for overcoming adversity and continuing to fight throughout the season. Congratulations to St. Anthony Baseball on a memorable year.
