We are proud to congratulate Paul Koerner (’76) for being named Effingham Daily News Citizen of the Year! Paul was honored at the Effingham County Chamber Gala, following in the footsteps of his father, Carl Koerner Jr., who received the same award 24 years ago. Paul was recognized for his outstanding contributions to our community, especially his ongoing support of St. Anthony Schools.
Paul’s leadership in the “Securing Our Future” campaign, which surpassed its $5.5 million goal, has had a lasting impact on St. Anthony. His efforts to grow the endowment of the St. Anthony Educational Trust ensure that tuition remains affordable for families while maintaining the excellence of our schools. Additionally, through the Carl P. Koerner Sports Spectacular golf outing, Paul has helped raise over $1.5 million for St. Anthony and Effingham Unit 40 athletic programs.
In his acceptance speech, Paul graciously acknowledged the collective effort of the community, stating, “All of you give your time, talents, and treasures to make this community what it is.” His deep commitment to his faith, his family, and St. Anthony Schools exemplifies the true spirit of service.
Congratulations, Paul Koerner, for your well-deserved recognition as Citizen of the Year!
