In the fall, the girls’ varsity swim team sent three swimmers to the Sectional Championships in Champaign. Cailey Dorris, Mollie Slifer, and Gracie Slifer each swam two races, where they all garnered personal best times. All three athletes earned podium finishes, which means they placed in the top six in our Illini Conference.
This winter, the boys’ varsity swim team sent four swimmers to the Sectional Championships in Champaign. Aidan Braunecker, Marcus Geen, Gabe Huebner, and Daniel Ramos each swam two individual races as well as both of the sprint relays. Aidan earned a YMCA Nationals Qualifying time in the 50 Freestyle, and Marcus earned a top six finish in the 500 Freestyle. Gabe and Daniel both put up seasonal best times in their races as well.
All swimmers from St. Anthony, both boys and girls, represented their school well and swam with heart. Both seasons were huge successes for these swimmers, and there will definitely be more to come!
