T. Edward Austin Honored Posthumously

We are proud to share that T. Edward Austin, a St. Anthony High School class of 1993 graduate, has been honored posthumously by ExxonMobil LNG with the naming of a liquefied natural gas carrier in his memory. The vessel, HL Edward Austin, was officially named during a ceremony held March 18, 2025, at Samsung Heavy Industries’ shipyard in South Korea.

Ed, who passed away in 2023, earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from West Point and later an MBA from the University of Illinois. He served as a U.S. Army aviator, achieving the rank of Captain with assignments across the U.S., Europe, South Korea, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

Following his military service, Ed joined ExxonMobil in 2008, where he worked for nearly 15 years in global roles focused on commercial strategy and market development. In 2018, he was named Vice President of LNG Market Development.

“Ed’s contributions and spirit left a lasting impact,” said an ExxonMobil spokesperson. “This tribute ensures his legacy will continue to sail on.”

We join the Austin family and the wider St. Anthony community in honoring Ed’s life of service, excellence, and quiet strength. His legacy now spans continents—and oceans—and will not be forgotten.
